General Announcements:

“The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.”   Peace Day also recognizes the efforts of those who have worked hard to end conflict and promote peace. The International Day of Peace is also a day of ceasefire – personal or political.
Friday, our JMS ROOS group would like to invite you, to meet with several of our high school leaders, in the front drop off, to celebrate this day.  If you’d like to join them, please stay out front and watch, and listen, for your instructions, as you’re coming into school.
We will have an opportunity to symbolically participate in the global “Peace Wave” that will take place internationally at 12:00 today.  We will have our symbolic “Peace Wave” during our normal moment of silence, before the morning announcements.

Picture retakes will be next Wednesday, September 26 during lunch times.

There will be a required meeting tomorrow during homeroom for all Performing Arts students who are attending the Field Trip.  Please come to the auditorium immediately after announcements.

TAILGATE PARTY is TUES, Sept. 25!  All JMS Students and Staff are invited to attend our first annual Tailgate Party on Tuesday from 5:30-6:30pm on the JMS soccer fields. Hot dogs, games, a photo booth, and admission to the Football game is all Free! Snow cones will be sold for $3 each.  Come out and wear your black and gold as we celebrate our school!

Did you know that since the JMS Library began collecting Box Tops in 2017, our students and staff have helped us raise $1,864.10?!  Help the JMS Library earn even more money for new books by helping us turn trash into cash once again! The library is kicking off their Fall Box Tops Homeroom Collection Contest this week, and the contest will run now through Friday, October 12.  Please bring in your Box Tops and add them to the collection box in your homeroom. Don’t forget to check the expiration dates before bringing them in, as we cannot accept, or count, any expired Box Tops. Box Tops will be counted weekly during the contest period, and a leaderboard will be displayed in the cafeteria so that everyone can follow the progress of all of the homerooms.  Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 homerooms that collect the most Box Tops!

Reminder to all Art Club/Advanced Art Club Students:  Feather designs are due to Miss Schwinghamer by today.

All middle school students are welcome to join us for Study Tables @ JMS this afternoon in the library!
